Gloriosa

In architecture, a cloister is an enclosed courtyard or garden surrounded by a covered walkway with buildings on the outside, and an open colonnade facing in. Cloisters are usually part of a church or monastery; originally they were used primarily as places of quiet meditation or study. This pattern is named for Venice’s Basilica di Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari and its cloister. Though locals call the cloister I Frari, I prefer the name Gloriosa for this pattern.

Pattern is knit flat from the hem to shoulders, then is seamed, and the collar and button bands are added.
